Quote: When you hear people talk about how realistic this game is, they mean REALISTIC. Sierra has modeled the exact workings of a SWAT element down to a science. The feedback and ideas from actual LAPD members shine throughout. When you down an enemy you can walk up to them and take the rifle that they had and even the pistol out of their holster. That of course would be done in real life to secure the area.

Quote: SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle changed the face of the first-person tactical genre, and the Elite Edition polishes it to a near mirror shine. Sierra Studios is to be commended for making this add-on available free of charge to owners of the original game, something that many publishers may not have done.

Quote: Before we dip into the real gem of the Elite Edition, its multiplayer, a quick mention must be made about the vast improvements Sierra has done on the games AI. To put it simply, these guys are smart! Weaponless characters can quickly become foreboding as they pick up artillery from within the gaming environment and spray bullets at you.

Quote: The A.I. in SWAT 3 is simply amazing. The characters don't just react to what you do; they also react to what you don't do. Your teammates will let you know if your reports are unfounded. They react if something happens and you don't have time to respond. Your enemies will react in different ways depending on the situation, agressively if they feel they have the advantage, submissively if they don't. Or maybe not, because each time you play a level, compeletely different things happen

Quote: The various multiplayer game modes are fun and challenging, ranging from basic hostage rescue to VIP protection. These game modes are supported by several multiplayer game types which include co-op, deathmatch, last man standing, team deathmatch and paintball (SWAT 3 isn't big on the gore factor so it stands to reason that paintball was included as an option, surprisingly this is actually quite a cool addition to the game and makes a welcome change from the gib everything in sight type of play). Add in the ability to choose sides (SWAT or terrorist) and we are talking about some major replay value.

Quote: SWAT 3 Elite Edition is a dynamic program; there is little doubt about that. This program offers an education into the background of SWAT, and provides enough real life details to make it an adrenaline rush. Instant gunfire will have you wheeling about, looking for targets while your squad reacts immediately to the threat.
